A day out in Rotterdam

5 February 2016

It’s well known that Rotterdam offers amazing places to eat out or to have some drinks. Here, I want to introduce you to some lesser known cafés that deserve this recognition as well. And believe me, you will definitely benefit from these tips! Let me take you on a day tour through a few of Rotterdam’s best places for students.

Morning: King Kong, Witte de Withstraat 74, 3012 BS Rotterdam
While it is actually a hostel, you can get great coffee and pastries – especially brownies – in the lobby which is open for everyone. While relatively small, the spatial arrangement of the décor, adorable accessories and cozy atmosphere totally make up for that. It forms a relaxing environment to get ready for the day ahead!

Lunch time: Brood en Sappies, Witte de Withstraat 39A, 3012 BM Rotterdam

For a huge range of food choices at student prices, you should definitely pay Brood en Sappies a visit. Besides the fact that their meals are strikingly colourful and taste delicious, it is also healthy. The bistro works with fresh products and meat from animals that are treated well. Definitely a plus for the eye, the mouth and the conscious!

Restaurant Bazar Rotterdam

Dinner: De Bazar Witte de Withstraat 16, 3012 BP Rotterdam

Okay, I admit that this one is not unknown, but it is for sure one of the best places to eat, especially if you want to try out something new. Their world cuisine and convivial atmosphere make for an extraordinary night out. The colourful lamps and tables, the festive music, the different languages and cultures together make for a holiday-like feeling. If you are in a good mood and want to try something different, this is the place to go.

Drinks: Mad Mick’s Breakaway Café, Karel Doormanstraat 1, 3012 GD Rotterdam

This is without a doubt one of my favourite cafés in Rotterdam. This internationally oriented spot with its rockin’ American Diner style decoration and delicious drinks has an amazing atmosphere. And the best is yet to come: On Thursday’s and Sunday’s you get a 25% student discount on all cocktails! What are you waiting for?
