The Chairman is responsible for the overall functioning of the board and is the contact person of the association. She must have a clear overview of what is going on within ACE. Moreover, the Chairman needs to keep the long-term goals in mind, while achievingthe present goals during this academic year. The function also includes leading the board meetings and General Assemblies (GA’s). The Chairman is responsible for all the presentations, networking and maintaining the contacts with all parties. Finally, the Chairman is responsible for good internal communication within the board.
Daniëlle is the chairman of the 35th board of ACE>. She overlooks the entire board to make sure everything goes according to plan. Her enthusiasm for ACE> started in her first year of IBACS, when she joined the Party Committee. As chairman she wants to make sure whenever people think of the colour blue they will think of ACE>! She has a big task of leading the general assemblies and presenting ACE> to the external parties. She has quite some experience in the theatre, so standing in front of big crowds as chairman will be no problem. Born and raised in the beautiful city of Rotterdam, Erasmus University fits her perfectly. She hopes to be able to show all students, national and international, how amazing the city, university and faculty can be. Daniëlle wants to challenge herself and hopes to gain a lot of professional experience which she can use in her future career. Last but not least she believes that this will be yet another great year for ACE>!
Dylan van der Torre
The Secretary works mostly behind the scenes. The Secretary produces the Minutes of the GA and the board meetings, so others can see what has been discussed. He is also responsible for the letters and the e-mail and has contact with the members through this way. If the members have questions or they want to participate in any event, they send an email to the Secretary. The Secretary takes care of ACE’s database and makes sure that all of the member information is up-to-date. Once a month the Secretary sends out the newsletter, thus informing the members of the association not only about past and pending activities, but also providing any important information about the association important at that time.
As PR Manager, he is, together with the Marketing Manager, responsible for the website of the association. He makes sure everything works smoothly, and keeps contact with the company that hosts our website. Also, he will be focussing on acquisition. This means contacting different companies and enabling great collaborations.
Although committed to continue the digitalisation process and digitising the archives of ACE>, antithetically, this will never happen to Dylan’s books, which he still likes to read in paper form. When he’s not reading, listening to classical music or throwing an oval ball around, there is a high chance Dylan can be found in the Smitse or in Locus Publicus, situated in the beautiful borough of Kralingen, where he now also rents a small studio for a stupendous amount of money. Apart from writing prodigious mails and newsletters, Dylan will also focus on acquisition this year.
The Treasurer of the association is responsible for the cash flow of the association and maintaining its budget. Every committee has its own budget and it is the Treasurer’s task to distribute money to the different committees. She needs to check all the Treasurers of the committees to ensure they do not exceed their budget and spend it wisely. Another important responsibility of the Treasurer is the long-trip committee. Because of this committee’s relatively high budget, it is necessary that theTreasurer of the association be a part of the long-trip committee, as its Treasurer.
This year, Jorn Schulting is the Treasurer of the 35th board of International Faculty Association ACE>. Born and raised in Eindhoven, Jorn decided to study History at the Erasmus School of History, Culture & Communication and with success! After three years of studying, Jorn received his Bachelor degree including the Honours programme. Instead of continuing his Master study, Jorn decided to dedicate a whole year of his student life being the Treasurer of ACE>. He will be responsible for the cashflow of the association as well as maintaining its budget. Besides the fact that Jorn already is a member for three years now, he also participated in multiple committees. Last year, Jorn was the chairman of the Party Committee as well as the PR-Marketing Manager within the Freshmen Committee. With his experience and knowledge of the association, Jorn wants to keep ACE> safe and sound within the 7th lustrum year when it comes to finances. In the end, he is convinced not only to broaden his own horizon, but also improve the perspectives of the association within the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
