The Chairman is responsible for the overall functioning of the board and ACE itself. Next to that, he is the contact and spokes person of the Association. He must have a clear overview of what is going on within ACE. Moreover, the Chairman needs to keep the long-term goals in mind, while achieving the present goals during this academic year. The function also includes leading board meetings and General Assemblies. The Chairman is responsible for all presentations, networking and maintaining the contacts with all parties. Finally, the Chairman is responsible for good internal communication within the board.
The Editor-in-Chief will be responsible for EmbrACE, the official magazine of our faculty (ESHCC). The magazine keeps its readers connected to the faculty and its study areas (history, culture and communication). The Editor-in-Chief wants to deal with the editorial, which includes members and non-members. Additionally, she makes sure that the magazine is on time and is also responsible for all contact with designers and the printers of EmbrACE. The Editor-in-Chief takes care of the advertisers and acquisition of the magazine, in collaboration with the External Relations Manager. Further More, the Editor-in-Chief writes a number of articles herself.
Robin van den Bovenkamp-Roos is the Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of the 37th Board of IFA ACE. She is a third-year IBCoM student living in Leiden who, next to her studies and board duties, works as a journalist and freelance editor. In her free time you can find her at concerts, talking about diversity and equality, and petting dogs. As Chairman, she hopes to represent ACE professionally and charismatically, and as Editor-in-Chief she hopes to deliver four awesome EmbrACE issues. Inquiries about palm and tarot card readings can be redirected to her.
Emma Louise Dailey
The Secretary works mostly behind the scenes. The Secretary produces the Minutes of the General Assembly and the board meetings. He is also responsible for the letters and e-mails ACE receives and is this way also a contact person for members. If the members have questions or if they want to participate in any event, they send an email to the Secretary. The Secretary takes care of ACE's database and makes sure that all of the member information is up-to-date. Once a month out of the newsletter, it is now clear that the members of the association are responsible for their activities, but also provide important information about the Association important at that time.
Emma is a third year bachelor student on exchange in the IBCom program for a full year from the Le Havre campus of SciencesPo Paris. For the past two years, she has studied social sciences in a comparative perspective between Europe and Asia, with a focus on political science and history. She chose communication as the focus of her exchange year to better prepare for a potential career in journalism or political communication.
Emma is half French, half American, and lived in Singapore for 12 years. During her first two years of undergraduate studies in France, she worked as president of the Model United Nations society, treasurer of the Public Speaking Association, and editor-in-chief of the Campus newspaper. At Erasmus University, she became a writer for EmbrACE before filling the newly vacated position of Secretary in February. She looks forward to contributing to the ACE community that has made her feel so welcome during her exchange.
In her free time, Emma enjoys playing guitar and singing very loudly for the pleasure of her upstairs neighbours, swimming with Ragnar, and rock climbing at MONK bouldering gym.
The Treasurer of the Association is responsible for the cash flow of the organization and maintaining its budget. At every General Assembly he will present the progress on the budget so far. Every committee has its own budget and it is the Treasurer's task to distribute money to the different committees. He needs to check all the Treasurers of the committees to ensure they do not exceed their budget and spend it wisely. Another important responsibility of the Treasurer is the Long-Trip Committee. Because of this committee's relatively high budget, it is necessary that the Treasurer of the Association is part of this committee as its treasurer.
Loet was raised in
the small but picturesque village of Bladel, Noord-Brabant, which remained
close to his heart after moving to Rotterdam. Since he goes back every weekend
to play football as a goalkeeper for the fourth team of VV. Bladella, which he
combines during the week with other sports such as running and fitness. After
leaving high school, he decided to follow his passion and started studying
history in the big city of Rotterdam. So ‘far away’ from his roots he wanted to
get to know and befriend like-minded people thus during the Eurekaweek he
decided to join ACE. A decision that he hasn’t regretted ever since and
made him eventually end up at the treasurer's position of this year's board. He
is very enthusiastic, motivated and determined to ACE this year!
External Relations Manager
External Relations Manager
The main responsibility of the External Relations Manager is to make sure that all communication is smooth and that the contact with external parties is maintained in a good manner. He must be approachable, sharp-witted and assertive for it is his task to let ACE grow according to the board of the board, both the long term and short term. Furthermore, the External Relations Manager is in charge of the acquisition. Acquiring new sponsor and partnerships is a vital part of the growth. ACE is going through. Finally, the External Relations Manager takes part in the SGN (Student History Netherlands) board, which organizes the annual SGN day and some additional events.
The Marketing Manager focuses on the online communication and promotion materials. This includes maintaining the website and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram) to keep everyone up-to-date about events and invitations for promotion. The Marketing Manager is also in charge of templates, the house style of the association, the committee of recommendation and taking pictures at events.
comes from India and has now chosen Rotterdam to live in and finish her
studies. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. She has quite some
international experience as she has lived in different countries and cities and
travelled extensively. Because of these mixed experiences, Shreya sees things
from a broad and informed perspective. But she is also eager to learn more
because you can never know enough! She always tries to be inclusive and
understanding of all ideas and opinions. She also enjoys sleeping in, catching
up on TV shows, eating desserts and doing her media magic. This year she has
joined as a new member of ACE and also as a board member! She is also doing her
Master full time. She is determined to give her best to both and ace this year
socially, professionally and academically.
Internal Relations Manager
As the Internal Relations Manager, the main mission is to represent ACE towards the faculty, as well as the other way around; a lot of focus has to be put on maintaining valuable contacts with the ESHCC faculty, as well as collaborating on events with the staff of the separate departments within it. The continuation of the ESHCC Today program is a nice example of what can be accomplished through collaboration between these parties. The Internal Relations Manager also keeps in contact with the Studystore, to ensure that the correct books are ordered and that may be delivered on time as well. Furthermore, the Internal Relations Manager also stays up-to-date on the current finances of the association, having an additional function as Financial Control within the board.
