Become the Marketing Manager/Editor-in-Chief of the 37th Board!12 April 2018
As Marketing Manager/Editor-in-Chief, your week is very diverse. Two years ago these two functions were combined, and although it might seem scary being in charge of such visible tasks, I can assure you it’s one of the best decisions ACE has ever made. The functions fit together perfectly and honestly make for such a fun, diverse and interesting experience!
First of all, a big part of your job description is social media. After all, it is 2018 and ‘being online’ is what we do. Although a lot of our communication goes through our Facebook page, the Instagram and the website are just as important. As Marketing Manager, this is your responsibility. You stay in contact with the company responsible for hosting the website, and you make sure everything is up-to-date and that there is content. This is also where EmbrACE could come in handy. As you might have noticed, this year the editors of the editorial team made sure there were at least two articles a week to be posted on both the website and the Facebook. As both Marketing Manager and Editor-in-Chief, you get to create a schedule with them to make sure the articles are done in time so you could post them. Of course you are free to think of other ways to assure ACE’s visibility online; like with giving editors a column, introduce them or committees on a weekly basis, or something completely else. You’re in charge!
Furthermore, you consult with the Marketing Managers of every committee, to talk about their promo plannings or perhaps to brainstorm about new house styles for their events. This way, you know if everything is in line with the house style ACE has (or the little twist you gave it to make it YOUR year). Of course, not all of the promotion is being delegated to the committees, so you will have to dive into Photoshop and InDesign to create new banners, awesome posters or new items and gadgets for our members. This will all help you to promote our association on campus, during big events and during the Eurekaweek. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a pro with these programs yet: practice makes perfect and creative ideas are key.
So - as you might have noticed - EmbrACE is also part of the job description. You, together with your committee chairman (thank god you have one), will be responsible for the Faculty Magazine! This means brainstorming with your editorial team about possible themes, reading and editing articles, maintaining contact with the printer and making sure your designer knows what you’re going for. You get to create four wonderful issues a year! If you are in need of a creative outlet, there is always the possibility to write your own articles - both for online and the printed issue of course. Like stated before, there is also the online EmbrACE you will have to fill, but with being both the Marketing Manager and Editor-in-Chief this will be easy. It is up to you, your chairman and your committee to let EmbrACE reach her full potential!
Are you excited yet? Do you feel inspired and are you ready to let all of your creative ideas help share the visions of both ACE and EmbrACE all over campus? Then this is the function for you! So go apply and become the Marketing Manager/Editor-in-Chief of the 37th Board of ACE!
The application deadline is April 30, 20:00h and can be send to firstname.lastname@example.org.
