Dutch Embassy Internship

Here is an opportunity to work for the Dutch embassy in London! If you are interested in working under the foreign affairs department of Netherlands, then this internship is for you. Currently there are openings for trainee internships in 3 different departments: 

1) Trainee at the Dutch embassy in London: Economic department

2) Trainee at the Dutch embassy in London: Agricultural department

3) Trainee at the Dutch embassy in London: Political Department (Possibly defense)

When: From 4th March to 30th August, 2019. 

Hours: 40 hours per week.

Requirements

1) Economic Department: The trainee (e) provides support to the employees of the Economic Department in the execution of their duties. This could be, for example, a report on the opportunities in the UK for Dutch companies, the organization of events or the reports to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague about the economic consequences of Brexit. In addition, the trainee will be used to improve and expand our information provision to the business community about doing business in the UK, with a focus on International Corporate Social Responsibility (IMVO). The trainee will continue to join the team as an honorary member and will also be asked to assist the embassy if necessary, also for organizing activities outside office hours.

To be eligible for the internship, the candidate must:

  • to be at an advanced stage of a relevant Master's degree program, such as Economics, Business Administration, International Relations, etc .;
  • to master both Dutch and English in word and writing;
  • demonstrable affinity with working in an international environment;
  • demonstrable experience and interest in working with websites and / or social media;
  • to be an independent and hard worker who is creative, enterprising, flexible and enthusiastic.

The internship is specifically intended for students and must fit within the framework of a program. If you do not study in the intended internship period, you are unfortunately not eligible for this internship.You may not have done an internship at BZ or at another embassy / representation before.

2) Agricultural Department: The trainee (e) is a full-fledged part of the Agricultural Department and receives a teaching assignment with regard to stimulating and promoting corporate social responsibility in the trade relationship between the Netherlands and the UK. The trainee also offers support in providing information to the Dutch business community about developments in the British agrifood sector and agricultural politics, also in relation to Brexit, and in identifying opportunities for Dutch exports and investments. Interns are also deployed more widely within the embassy, for example for the organization of events (even after office hours).

To be eligible for the internship, the candidate must:

  • to follow a relevant university master's program, such as agricultural or agricultural studies, (international) business administration and business economics;
  • to master both Dutch and English in word and writing;
  • demonstrable affinity with working and doing business in an international environment;
  • demonstrable experience and interest in working with websites and / or social media;
  • to be an independent hard worker who is creative, enterprising, flexible and enthusiastic.

The internship is specifically intended for students and must fit within the framework of a program. If you no longer study in the intended internship period, you will not be eligible for this internship. You may not have done an internship at BZ or at a Dutch embassy / representation before.

3) Political Department: The Political Department is the link between the Netherlands and the UK for all the political themes that play out between the two countries, both in relation to the EU (Brexit) and the wider foreign policy sphere (including security policy, defense, human rights, development cooperation). This report is reported, a network is maintained and visits and events are organized. In the area of security policy, the political department works closely with the Defense Department, which specifically works for the defense cooperation between the Dutch and British Armed Forces. The trainee (e) joins the team in the work of the department. Within this, a limited number of focal points is agreed, partly depending on the background and preferences of the trainee.

To be eligible for this internship, the candidate must:

  • in an advanced stage (master phase) of a relevant university study;
  • demonstrable affinity with organizing activities;
  • excellent command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing;
  • an independent, hard worker who is enterprising, flexible and enthusiastic.

NB If you no longer study in the intended internship period, you will not be eligible for this internship.
