Spring Time in Rotterdam12 April 2018
By Aaron Beard - Finally, the cold weather is starting to fade away, and day by day it’s getting warmer! That’s right, it is finally spring time here in Rotterdam! But what some of you may not know is that this means that there is loads more that you can now do in the city! In this article I will cover a few of the new activities that you and your friends can take part in this spring and summer.
Firstly, mine and any beer lover’s favorite; the Biergarten! Just about a week ago the Biergarten opened back up for the season! I mean is there anything better than beer, bbq, music and the sun? Didn’t think so! Now open 7 days a week, from 12 to midnight, you and any of your friends can go an enjoy a great night here. It’s always 10/10 fun, and the best part is that the Biergarten is not alone. No; it is right beside two of Rotterdam’s best clubs, BAR and Annabel! Now you see why this is one of my favorite spring time activities in Rotterdam, as it is a guaranteed great time that you definitely won’t regret!
Next, while a bit cliche, there’s the Zoo! I myself have been to the Rotterdam zoo now twice, and it is definitely a place that everyone must see, especially if you’re an international or exchange student who’s currently in Rotterdam. Now yes, the zoo is open year around, but there’s nothing better than going to the zoo on a nice spring day when it is not too hot, but also not too chilly, where you can walk the park and enjoy all the sights. If you’re tired of school, or just feel like you need to get out of the city, then heading to the Zoo for a little time with nature is always a great way to make use of a spring day. And a little tip, with the Rotterdampas it is only 5 Euros per person!
And lastly, another one of my favorites is a day at the Kralingse Plas. Now, I know this one seems a bit simple and perhaps boring. But, for me there is really no better day than one where you get to spend it at the lake. I mean beers, grilling, listening to music, and spending time with friends it really all one can ask for right? Yes! So stop at a grocery store, pick up the needed groceries and enjoy some nice rest and relaxation at the Kralingse Plas. While we often overlook it, the lake has so many great areas to just kick back and make a perfect day.
So, these are just a few ideas of what you could do with your spring day in Rotterdam, and I think they’re pretty chill! Of course, you could always go to the library and be a studious student, but hey, doesn’t this sound so much better?
